PBS-Kids-Dr-Seuss

In honor of the birthday of beloved children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel — more famously known as Dr. Seuss — PBS KIDS will celebrate with a week-long “Birthday Cat-ebration.” It kicks off with a special new hour of The Cat In The Hat Knows a Lot About That! on Monday, March 3, 2014.

The show follows the hijinks of the Cat, Nick and Sally, and makes learning about science fun. It encourages kids to dream, ask questions and tap into their natural curiosity to explore the wonders of the natural world. In the four new episodes, Nick and Sally encounter a variety of new and interesting things, from how glass is made, to how multi-legged creatures walk, to how cotton is spun into fabric. Their animated guide? The Cat in the Hat, of course.

As part of the “Cat-ebration,” PBS KIDS will launch a new, mobile-friendly game from The Cat In The Hat Knows a Lot About That! Called “Marbleous Marvel Coaster,” it allows kids to create their own Seussian rollercoasters using open-ended play and engineering skills. The game is available at pbskids.org/catinthehat.
