Scholastic recently announced Alyssa Milano’s new children’s book series—and it’s all thanks to the actress-mom’s activism. The new series, entitled Hope, features an activist-in-the-making. Here’s the scoop on this powerful new kids series from the former Charmed actress.

Milano’s new series is illustrated by Eric S. Keyes and focuses on 11-year-old Hope and her goal to create social change. Debra Dorfman, Vice President and Publisher of Global Licensing, Brands and Media with Scholastic, said, “I’ve been a huge fan of Alyssa Milano’s for years and I was so excited from the very moment she shared her idea and vision for HOPE—a series centered around a smart and passionate character who is ready to conquer the world.”

Dorfman also added, “Alyssa is such positive role model and I admire how she uses her voice and her platform to help those in need around the world, especially children. We at Scholastic are thrilled to share her inspiring and hopeful message to kids everywhere.”

So what do we know about Hope right now? According to Scholastic, Hope is much more than just any 11-year-old girl: she’s a would-be future astrophysicist who loves swimming, has two rescue dogs and is into Galaxy Girl comics. The smart, fearless young woman is sure to become an inspiration to your kiddo—and you, too!

Look for Hope to debut in bookstores nationwide next year. The series’ publish date is set for Oct. 1, 2019.
