Are you ready for Amazon Prime Day? Beginning Jul. 16 and lasting for 36 hours, Amazon Prime members can get exclusive deals and savings. If you’re ready to save some seriously big bucks, take a look at these Amazon Prime Day shopping tips.

1. Don’t wait! (No, seriously.)

So how can you save big during this oh-so-impressive 36-hour sale? To start with, don’t wait. Yeah, yeah, Amazon gives their Prime members advance notice when it comes to some of their sales. But the really rad deals aren’t endlessly available—and that means you need to jump on our big ticket purchases—think major electronics or video games—right away.

2. Get Alexa to help you.

You can also save on Alexa-only deals or prep for Prime Day with your Echo device. Simply ask, “Alexa, what are my deals?” to get the lowdown on the sale items that you actually want. Oh, and it gets better. When you search for Prime Day deals using Alexa, turn on delivery notifications (on your Alexa-enabled device) or use Alexa to track your Prime Day purchases, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a 2019 Lexus ES (equipped with Alexa), $50,000 in cash or even a smart-home makeover!

If you don’t have an Alexa-enabled device to help you shop on Prime Day, you can also download the app to shop using voice commands. That’s right: Alexa is now available to help you spot deals on the Amazon Shopping app, no Echo required.

3. Stack your savings.

You can save even more with an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature credit card. Not only does it give you 5 percent back on your Amazon and Whole Foods Market purchases, you can also get 2 percent back at select restaurants, gas stations and drugstores and 1 percent back on other qualifying non-Amazon purchases. Yay!

4. Look for Lightning Deals.

Don’t forget about Amazon’s Lightning Deals. These limited-time deals get you super-steep discounts when you make your purchase within 15 minutes of putting it into your cart. Amazon Prime members also get early access to Lightning Deals before they open to the general public, too.

5. It’s not just Amazon having all the fun.

And if you think it’s just Amazon having all the sales on Prime Day, other online retailers have taken notice, too. Deal website RetailMeNot’s shopping and trends editor Sara Skirboll offers this insider tip: “If what you’re looking for isn’t on sale, check out other retailers. Many are offering their own Black Friday in July sales.”
