Midtown

Atlanta Balloon Glow at Piedmont Park
Hot air balloons will glow each evening in Piedmont Park from Thursday to Sunday, Aug. 1-4, with tethered balloon rides also available. The event also features the food vendors, retail vendors and activities for the little ones! General Admission is free, and balloon activity will be located in The Meadow – which is the South East area of the park close to The Park Tavern. Tethered rides booked in advance are $20 per person. Old MacDonald’s Farm at Center for Puppetry Arts
Little ones will move, sing, and help the farmhands on Old MacDonald’s farm. This interactive show is full of puppets, music, and a lot of fun down on the farm! Atlanta Falcons Open Practice & Military Appreciation Day
Don’t miss this chance to check out the Atlanta Falcons for a special open practice and Military Appreciation Day at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. for this full-pads practice (the last of the 2019 Atlanta Falcons training camp), and there will be plenty of special activities for kids. It’s also the Falcon’s Military Appreciation Day, and special military-themed activities for attendees can be found in The Home Depot Backyard and around Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Sun. Event details.

Free Observatory Viewing at Fernbank Science Center

The City band will begin on Roswell St. at 9:15 a.m., the Memorial service at 10 a.m. and the parade begins at 10:30 a.m. The parade ends at American Legion Post 201 on Wills Road, where there will be free Varsity hotdogs, drinks and plenty of activities.
