Hands-On Fun

Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at Atlanta Botanical Garden
Garden Lights, Holiday Nights, presented by Invesco QQQ, returns in 2020 with new safety protocols and spectacular lighted sculptures from the blockbuster exhibition, Alice’s Wonderland Reimagined. The exhibition runs nightly through Jan. 16, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, from 5 – 11 p.m. Tickets are extremely limited for this reduced-capacity event. All guests and members must have timed tickets. FInd out more here.

Outdoor Movie Abominable at The Battery Atlanta
Movie nights have become a regular family activity, so The Battery Atlanta is queuing up feel-good comedies, action-packed adventures, and more with the return of its popular Xfinity Movie Series. Guests of all ages are encouraged to spread out six feet apart with lawn chairs or thick blankets to set the scene for a casual and cozy – yet socially-distanced – night under the stars. Moviegoers can also order takeout at any of the one-of-a-kind dining options featured at The Battery Atlanta for the perfect dinner and a movie picnic. Here‘s what you need to know.

Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops
Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s invites families to visit Santa Claus in person this holiday season, with a reimagined free Santa’s Wonderland experience in Atlanta. The contactless visit with Santa includes free digital reservations, temperature screening, a magic Santa Shield, physical distancing, Santa’s sanitation squad, and face coverings. Be sure to make your reservations in advance. Here’s how to get on the nice list.

Snow in Downtown Alpharetta
A flurry of snow is coming to downtown Alpharetta’s Town Green from 6-7 p.m. on the first three Fridays in December. The snowy spectacle is free for the public to enjoy, along with the return of the handmade, life-size nutcrackers and beautiful winter décor lining the streets of boutique shops and restaurants. Check out the details here.

Worlds of Illumination Drive-Through in Marietta
Pay a visit to this delicious whimsical wonderland that kids’ fantasies are made of—candy land without the sugar crash. Spy sugar plum fairies, a gigantic gingerbread village, illuminated sweets as far as the eye can see. World of Illumination presents Candy Rush, the world’s largest holiday drive-through show, highlighting a 40-foot tall candy cane trio and animated Christmas characters. This mile-long drive-through show features nearly two million lights—a must-see treat for the entire family. Find out more here.

Cut Your Own Christmas Tree
For a fresh take on the holidays, head to an Atlanta area Christmas tree farm to choose from pre-cut trees, wreaths, and garland—or, of course—cut your own. For bonus points, pick up a hayride or a visit with Santa while you’re there. Just be sure to call before you go to verify hours, tree availability and COVID-19 safety protocols. Here’s the scoop.

Chat with a Nordstrom Santa
When we told Santa he wouldn’t be able to take pictures with all the kids in person this year, he said, “But I need to speak to every one of them! Have them call me.” His words exactly. Schedule your kiddo’s one-on-one with Santa today. Find out more here.
