Ice Skate at The St. Regis Atlanta
If your brood is in the mood for some ice skating, and you’re in the mood for some fashionable rink-side cocktails and gourmet hot chocolate, skip the crowds and head to the rooftop rink at St. Regis Atlanta. The Pink Pig at Macy’s Lenox Square
It wouldn’t be the holidays in Atlanta if there wasn’t a giant, pink, 1950’s-themed pig ride in the parking lot of Macy’s at Lenox Square. Housed in a tent on the upper deck of the Macy’s lot, this iconic Atlanta ride is guaranteed to delight the kiddos and leave out-of-towners scratching their heads. Held at Macy’s at Lenox Square, 3393 Peachtree Street. $3/ person. Through Jan. 3, times vary by month. All ages. Event details.


Super Spectacular Science Show at Children’s Museum
Don’t miss this fun, hands-on science experience at Children’s Museum with Professor Labcoat and his Imaginator associates. From magnetism to chemical reactions to astronomy, he’s got the answers you need about the processes that surround us. His demonstrations are informative, fascinating, and incredibly fun. Held at Children’s Museum of Atlanta, 275 Centennial Olympic Park Dr NW. $14.95/ person. Ages 4 & up. Event details.

Ice Skate at Centennial Olympic Park
Now that the holidays are behind us, the rink at Centennial Olympic Park has calmed down considerably. Lose the crowds but still enjoy the lights? Yes, please. The kiddos will love a walk through this park, and if you match it with a trip to World of Coke, the Children’s Museum, or the Aquarium, you’ll be about as popular as Santa. Held at Centennial Olympic Park, 265 Park Ave West N.W. $12/ person. Fri. from 4:30 to 11 p.m., Sat. from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sun. from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. All ages. Event details.

Sample Seasonal Beverages at the World of Coke
In addition to the twinkling lights, giant ornaments on the lawn, and special exhibits on the Coca-Cola Santa, the kiddos will flip (especially if they get more than one sample) over the Gingerbread Coke, Chocolate-Covered Cherry Coke, Secret Santa, and Mistletoe Flow in the Taste It! beverage lounge. Holiday Model Train Show at the Botanical Garden
This one’s going to knock their socks off. Don’t miss the G-scale model train display that runs through incredibly decorated town and countryscapes at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at Atlanta Botanical Garden
Don’t miss the 5th annual dazzling display of twinkling lights at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. In addition to the millions of lights, there will be s’mores, hot cocoa, and adult beverages for purchase. Stone Mountain

Hit the Slopes at Snow Mountain
Who says Atlantans don’t know how to handle a few inches of snow? Head to Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park to prove just how much fun we know how to have in the white stuff. Worth the Drive: Stockbridge

First Day Hike at Panola Mountain State Park
Start the New Year off right with a brisk hike up a beautiful mountain! More than a hike, you’ll start your journey by writing, then burning, last year’s burdens. Then climb to the top of the mountain to symbolize all the great things you will accomplish in 2016. Finish with s’mores and hot chocolate around a campfire. Fantasy in Lights at Callaway Gardens
8 million lights. 15 dazzling scenes. 1 magical night. Fantasy In Lights is not only the South’s most spectacular holiday light and sound show, it is one of the world’s “Top 10 Places to See Holiday Lights,” as named by National Geographic Traveler. Ride the “Jolly Trolley” or keep cozy in the warm comfort of your own car as you and the fam cruise through this seasonal spectacular.
