Atlanta Kids Weekend Events: Jan. 17-19

Atlanta is saturated with fun things to do with kids this weekend. You’ll find Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Children’s Museum, blinged-out boats at the World Congress Center, plus fort building, family hikes, and fairies just a stone’s throw OTP. This boating bonanza where show-goers get to tour and get up-close to hundreds of boats, enjoy interactive features including virtual reality exhibits, educational seminars on boating, fishing and sailing, a nautical Kids’ Zone and Touch-a-Boat Tour, is not to be missed! Fri.-Sun. Event details.

The Adventures of the Gingerbread Man at Center for Puppetry Arts
Run, run, run as fast as you can! You won’t want to miss this hilarious retelling of folktale favorites. Do you know the story of the Gingerbread Man? This must-see adaptation of the classic story follows the adventures of the Gingerbread Man when he discovers a magic wand. Skate the Station
Skate the Station is as close as Atlanta gets to Rockefeller Plaza, with an outdoor rink surrounded by tall buildings, as you can get. Tickets are available at the ice rink ticket window and online, and holiday hours are from 3-11 p.m. Check the Atlantic Station website for weather related closures and hour changes before you go! Fri.-Sun. Fort Building Fun at Morgan Falls Park
Enjoy a short winter hike into the forest and build a fort out of fallen tree branches.  Warm up afterwards by the fire pit overlooking Bull Sluice Lake, and add a few sticks from your fort—just be sure to register first. Fri. Event details.

Roswell

Family Night Hike at Chattahoochee Nature Center
Winter is one of the best times of year to explore nature at night. The winter world of CNC is on that deserves exploration in the dark. Listen for the sounds of winter in the woods and gaze up at the stars, while enjoying the crisp air of the season. A campfire where you can roast a marshmallow will be waiting for you as the evening wraps up.  Sat. Event details.

Enchanted Woodlands at Chattahoochee Nature Center
The fairies and gnomes have been busy building whimsical houses along Kingfisher Pond Trail. Slow down as you search for the houses made from tiny natural objects. Take notice of the beautiful and enchanting features of the winter woods. Fri.-Sun. Event details.

Schoolhouse Rock Live at Roswell Cultural Arts Center
From 1970s TV to the stage, Schoolhouse Rock Live promises all the musical numbers of your childhood, re-packaged for theirs. A nervous schoolteacher learns how to capture students’ imaginations with songs about history, civics, science, math, and grammar, like “Just a Bill” and “Conjunction Junction.” Kids will want to blast off with “Interplanet Janet” on this colorful adventure! Pop in for Family Fun at Marietta History Museum
Explore the Museum the 3rd Saturday of the Month with family fun activities from January through November. The Museum will offer themed activities in its gallery spaces. This month’s theme is “puzzles.” Sat. Event details

Model Train Show
Over 325 tables representing dealers from all over the nation will have model items for sale, along with six large working layouts for all to view and enjoy during all open show hours. Sat. Event details.
