Beach vacations with babes in tow score bonus points when they offer up a little something more than sand. And with miles of wide, flat beaches, bike trails through Spanish-moss covered live oaks, and wildlife interactions at world-class facilities, Jekyll Island is a family vacation jackpot only four-and-a-half hours from Atlanta. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know to plan your next beach breakaway.

Jekyll Island Family Lodging

Lodging on Jekyll is as diverse as the island's wildlife, ranging from a campsite across from Driftwood Beach to the Jekyll Island Club Resort—an Historic Hotel of America, named by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. However, with tots in tow, the Holiday Inn Resort is hard to beat. Built and managed with families in mind, this resort offers two-room family suites (some even have bunk beds) with kitchenettes, a beachfront location, plenty of green space and lounging docks, pool, hot tub, and playground. There are on-site dining options, including poolside fare and an adjacent restaurant, the Driftwood Bistro, and it's located centrally on the island with easy bike access to the Historic District, the Beach Village, mini-golf, and miles of bike trails.
