Treetop Quest just won a Totally Awesome Award for Greatest Birthday Party Spot in Atlanta. We recently spoke to them about their experience as a business owner, the best advice they’ve ever received and more. Hear what they have to say below!

Red Tricycle: Your community recently voted you “Greatest Birthday Party Spot” – what do your customers value most about your business?
Treetop Quest: Customers love our activity because it’s mentally and physically engaging, and outdoors. It’s also a new experience for most people, and an opportunity to try something different and exciting!

RT: What do you want people to know about your business that they don’t already know?
TQ: Our parks offer activities for the entire family, starting at just 4 years old. Finding an activity or venue that appeals to a Kindergartner and a teenager can be a real challenge. We have courses designed for young adventurers as well as more challenging options just for teens and adults. We have an adventure for everyone.

RT: How did your business get started and what was the motivation?
TQ: This activity is very popular in Europe, and our mother company has been operating parks in France for over 10 years. Treetop Quest opened it’s first location in the US 5 years ago in Buford GA as the aerial adventure park industry was just beginning to take off in the States.’

RT: Tell us, what do you start your morning with: 1. coffee 2. tea 3. mimosa 4. water 5. all of the above.
TQ: Coffee and water, in that order!

RT: What is the most awesome thing a customer has ever done for you?
TQ: We have wonderful customers! Since we have a fairly small staff at each park, we provide a pretty intimate experience for scheduling events, including birthday parties. Generally, planning birthday parties can be stressful for parents, so we try to alleviate as much of that stress as possible. The best feeling for me is when a mom tells us thank you, because her child had the best birthday party ever. An occasional bear hug from a birthday kid’s mom is the best reward for our hard work!

RT: What is your biggest pet peeve as a business owner?
TQ: When people say, “Oh, Treetop Quest is a hidden gem!” We are here, people! Tell your friends, neighbors, and families! We are a bit off the beaten path, but very conveniently located in Buford and Dunwoody.

RT: How do you keep your stress levels down?
TQ: Lists, calendars, and sticky notes are my best friends! I am always busy, but as long as I stay organized I am not too stressed.

RT: What’s your secret superhero power as a business owner?
TQ: Perspective. Do not sweat the small stuff, and step back a moment to decide if it’s big stuff or small stuff.

RT: Tell us, what is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received (as a parent or business owner)?
TQ: I am not a parent, but the best business advice I have been given is to let go of being a perfectionist. Things will not always go 100% according to plan. That’s OK, just be prepared to make adjustments and be flexible. There is always a solution, but you have to be open-minded to find it sometimes!

RT: How about the worst piece of advice you’ve ever received?
TQ: I’ve been lucky to have great mentors and can’t honestly think of bad advice I have been given!

RT: Is there a special offer you’d like to include for Red Tricycle readers?
TQ: Use Promo Code RED10 for 10% off tickets purchased online, anytime during regular hours of operation during the 2016 or 2017 season. Valid online only, for reservations made 24 hours in advance! Subject to availability.
