Grab your wings as your weekend of family-friendly fun is about to take flight. Flutter over to the Chattahooche Nature Center for their annual Flying Colors Butterfly Festival. If you are looking for more backyard-variety merriment, don’t miss the Center for Puppetry Arts’ silly show, Squirrel Stole My Underpants. Take the tots to tune in for the Virginia-Highlands Summerfest (complete with a kid’s stage) or Roswell’s Riverside Concert Series. Flying Colors Butterfly Festival
Don’t miss this annual festivals that enchants when the air fills with the beating wings of hundreds of beautiful butterflies. The CNC’s new “Butterfly Encounter Exhibit” (opening during the festival and staying open through July 13 after the festival dates) invites visitors to hand-feed more than 200 free flying butterflies. Enjoy the show when butterflies land on flowers after the releases. All ages will enjoy this fun event featuring: live music; photography and entomology exhibits; arts and crafts; face painting, butterfly parades and more. Kids can wear their butterfly costumes and join the daily butterfly parades. Sat., 10 a.m to 3 p.m.; Sun., noon to 5 p.m., Chattahooche Nature Center, $12 General Public/$8 CNC Members. All ages. Event details.

Squirrel Stole My Underpants: A Poignantly Silly Adventure Tale for Families
Sylvie is sent to the backyard to hang up the laundry. The moment her back is turned, a mischievous squirrel steals her favorite piece of clothing and runs off. When Sylvie gives chase, an entire world emerges from her laundry basket, and curious characters show her the way through mysterious lands. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Take a trip over the rainbow with Dorothy and all your favorite characters in this world premiere adaptation featuring original, handcrafted puppets from The Center of Puppetry Arts!
