Experience the roar and might of the Mesozoic Era when Extreme Dinosaurs, presented by Dinosaurs Unearthed. Extreme Dinosaurs, an educational and entertaining exhibition suited for the whole family, gathers the world’s strangest dinosaurs in an experience that showcases both lifelike and life-size animatronic dinosaurs alongside full-scale skeletons and real and replica fossils. The exhibition immerses guests in a naturalistic landscape where 17 animatronic dinosaurs will roar, snarl, open their jaws, blink their eyes, move their limbs and more. In addition to the life-size animatronic models, skeletons, a variety of real and replica fossils, and interactive activities will provide hours of family friendly entertainment and education. Come celebrate Farm Day—A family day celebrating spring features live animals from the Art Barn at Morning Glory Farm, crafts with Farmer Sue, photo taking in front of a mini-barn with CNC’s own box turtle and other creatures, storytime with Miss Julia, alpacas from Crafdal Farm and farm-to-table gardening demos. Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, and the rest of the Mystery Machine crew investigate a haunted theater in this family-friendly musical. The performance, based on Warner Brothers Scooby Doo! cartoon, runs 80 minutes with a brief intermission. VIP tickets include a meeting with Scooby-Doo and a show poster-gram. 2nd Annual Rock Paper Scissors Downhill Dash
The 1 mile run/walk travels down Piedmont Avenue to well-known retail district Ansley Mall and is designed to allow families to enjoy getting outdoors and being active together. The race is a competitive mile format, with timing and awards in several age categories similar to longer distances. Beginners and non-competitive run/walkers are encouraged to participate. The race begins at historic Rock Spring Presbyterian Church, and the post-race party will be held at the popular Ansley Mall retail district, featuring a variety of post-race snacks, live bluegrass music, and kids’ activities. Sat., 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Rock Spring Preschool, $20 in advance, $25 same day. All ages. Event details.
Stone Mountain Bluegrass Festival & Artists Market
Stone Mountain Welcomes Back Its 5rd Annual Bluegrass Festival & Artists Market. Nestled right down the middle of Main Street, visitors will enjoy folk and outsider art and crafts, live music, children’s area and local food and beverage concessions including “gourmet” food trucks. A small stage will showcase group Contra dances and bluegrass music, plus bluegrass “street jams” will be featured throughout the festival. This event brings much needed attention to the restoration of this historic village. Best of all, it’s entirely free to attend! Sun., 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Stone Mountain, Free. All ages. Event details.
