Disneyland and LEGOLAND will no doubt be on the vacation wish list, but we’re here to tell you the following museums are giving amusement parks a serious run for their money. From tiny towns to giant locomotives, your kiddos will be begging to stay another day. Click through the gallery below to learn about our favorite spots from across the country.

Imagine Children’s Museum, Seattle

In addition to an awesome water exhibit that incorporates colorful balls into the play—allowing kids to see how water moves while they’re spraying, spinning, and cycling it through a maze of interesting pathways—the museum also boasts an amazing rooftop play area that’s open when the weather permits. With an oversized musical instrument display that's just begging to be banged on, the rooftop couldn't get any more exciting. Unless, of course, it had a huge climbing structure or a dinosaur excavation site. Which it does. So it's pretty awesome. But if the weather's not right for the rooftop, rest assured the construction zone, airplane, bus, train display, and daily programming will keep them happy the whole time.
