One of our favorite recipes for fun includes plenty of wide open spaces, a dash of wind, lots of sunshine, and of course, kids! Throw in a couple of kites and you’ve got the makings for a perfect day. From sandy stretches to awesome green spaces, flip through the album below to discover our picks for best places to throw caution to the wind.

Long Beach – Long Beach, Wa

It’s no surprise the home of the World Kite Museum & Hall of Fame and the Washington State Int’l Kite Festival is one of the best places to fly kites on the West Coast. The 28-mile white sand beach is inviting and the charming beach town is ideal for summer vacations and getaways. If you go during the festival (the last week in August), be prepared for crowds!

Insider Tip: Long Beach is one of our top picks for best boardwalks, too.
