The meal kit market has gotten pretty saturated lately with new offerings from big retailers like Amazon and Walmart giving smaller delivery services a run for their money. To keep up with the competition Blue Apron will begin selling its meal kits in stores.

Blue Apron was at the forefront of the meal kit movement as one of the first companies to offer a solution to the nightly dinner dilemma in most busy households. Their kits gave families a chance to eat well without all of the work and led to a cooking revolution with meal kit services. The only downside is the commitment you have to make to a subscription plan. That’s where companies like Amazon and Walmart have an advantage in that they offer kits with no strings attached.

Now Blue Apron is planning to make a change that will please those who don’t want to commit by selling their kits in grocery stores. The à la carte kits will also be available for purchase online without signing up for a subscription if you prefer to have them delivered. No word yet on how much the individual kits will cost, but they should arrive in stores by the end of the year.
