Pull out your handy dandy notebook and get ready to search for clues because Nickelodeon is bringing back Blue’s Clues. That’s right, everyone’s favorite blue dog is returning to TV, but she’s going to look a little different than you might remember.

Blue is getting a digital makeover for Nickelodeon’s revival of Blue’s Clues, as the show shifts from traditional flat animation to 3D CGI. The network is also on the hunt for a fresh face to replace Blue’s human owner and co-host, formerly Steve (or Joe depending on what years you watched).

No word on the casting other than the fact that Nickelodeon looking for a “high-profile” host. The casting call is for male and female actors, so a female host is definitely a big possibility.

Blue’s Clues was the first preschool program to usher in the era of interactive viewing that led to other popular shows like Dora the Explorer.

“With Blue’s Clues, Nickelodeon launched what became TV’s first generation of interactivity for preschoolers and set the bar for quality, curriculum-driven shows we have made since,” said Cyma Zarghami, President, Nickelodeon Group, in a statement.

“The new, modern version of Blue’s Clues will capture all the original’s creativity and visual identity for a whole new audience ready for its fun adventures and expertly designed problem-solving curriculum.”

No date is set yet for the new show’s premiere, but it will be a 20-episode series when it launches.
