Comic book fans have been waiting for this huge moment, and finally, your inner fangirl can get a first glimpse of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel! The film, which comes out in March of 2019, is Marvel’s first (and long overdue) female-led superhero movie.
The Academy Award-winning star of the superhero flick is featured in the Sep. 7 issue of Entertainment Weekly. And of course, Larson in her full red, blue and gold regalia graces the cover.

Even though this isn’t the first form-the-film photo, it is the first pic of Larson in her actual Captain Marvel suit. In January, several photos from the Captain Marvel set surfaced online, but they featured Larson wearing different costume pieces for the film.
Larson plays the role of part-human, part-alien species (Kree) Air Force pilot Carol Danvers, and the Captain Marvel story greets fans in the 1990s. This means plenty of ’90s throwback costumes during Danvers’ time on Earth. Look for Larson wearing a totally retro Nine Inch Nails tee!
The film also stars Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou and Crazy Rich Asians‘ star Gemma Chan. Samuel L. Jackson also returns for his ninth appearance as Nick Furry. Given that Captain Marvel takes place in the ’90s, viewers will get to see a much younger Fury. But clearly, the star of this film is Larson—and we are psyched to see her take the lead as the latest superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
