It’s not often we normal folk understand celebrities but we totally get why Cardi B cancelled her plans to go on tour with Bruno Mars. The new mom welcomed daughter Kulture Kiari on Jul. 10 with husband Offset and the family is realizing they need more time together.

Yesterday the singer announced that she would not be joining Bruno Mars on the last leg of his “24K Magic” tour in September, which would have been roughly six weeks after giving birth. Basing her decision on her emotional and physical well-being, the new mom took a chance by sharing intimate details on her journey into motherhood, and we are totally loving it.

She’s a new mom and had no idea how hard being a mom would be.

Just like every new mom on the planet, we have no idea what it’s like to bring a baby into the world until we actually experience it. The overwhelming love, fear and exhaustion is as brand-new as your fresh bundle of joy—and Cardi B is no different. The singer is just getting her sea legs when it comes to being a mom and now she can take the time to enjoy it.

She had ridiculously high expectations of herself as a working mom.

Most working moms take a maternity leave and while 6 weeks is the minimum, it’s barely enough time to feel physically better, much less emotionally ready. While the singer intended to bring Kulture with her on tour, the advice of her doctors was not to bring the new baby on the road at such a young age. Like any new mama, Cardi B wasn’t about to leave her newborn babe at home and we applaud her intentions of putting on a great show with Bruno Mars. We don’t blame her for cherishing her time at home.

Bruno Mars supports her decision.

Cardi B has received nothing but support from Bruno Mars since her announcement and he took to Instagram to share it with her. The pop star even promised his own rendition of one of her hit songs, “Bodak Yellow,” in her honor.

Fans support her decision to put family first, too.

Twitter and Instagram have been blowing up with support for the new mom singer. Parents are sharing their own words of encouragement for the young family. Heck, she performed while pregnant––the woman deserves some time off!

We hope you enjoy your much needed time with your new baby, Cardi!
