The Red Tricycle team is devastated to share that our Digital Media Manager, Brandi McWade lost her battle to metastatic breast cancer this weekend. Our hearts are broken.

Brandi inspired all of us with her kindness, bravery and positive attitude. We find out how strong we are when we are faced with the unthinkable, and Brandi was one of the strongest women we know.

We share Brandi’s story here in hopes of raising awareness about the first sign of the breast cancer and the importance of routine check ups. For Brandi, the first symptom that something was wrong wasn’t a lump. In fact, it was a dimple. Below is a photo posted from another breast cancer fighter showing the very subtle dimpling that can be an initial sign of breast cancer.

Over the past five years, Brandi fought tirelessly against cancer and inspired everyone around her. Some of the things we love and admire about Brandi: her sense of humor, generosity, determination, her love of healthy food, incredible work ethic, willingness to take on any role at our office (yes, she ran around to different toy stores in Marin looking for toy dinosaurs one day for a video shoot), and her steadfast bravery. We were all blessed to have known her.

Brandi requested that we honor her legacy by supporting Larissa Podermanski, an extraordinary woman on a similar journey, now courageously fighting her own battle with cancer. To honor Brandi’s life and memory, please express your loving kindness by visiting Larissa’s GoFundMe page or by donating to Planned Parenthood, the organization that first noticed and identified Brandi’s initial symptom, and whose resources and centers kept her with us for five years.

Brandi, to say you will be missed is a vast understatement. You’ve impacted each one of us more than you’ll ever know.
