They act, sing, inspire and make you laugh. Brilliantly. That should be enough! But these über-talented people also write children’s books — ones that are amazing enough to keep on your kiddo’s nightstand and read again and again. Click through our gallery to discover the best reads from the coolest multi-hyphenates around.

“Nightmares!” by Jason Segel & Kirsten Miller

About the Author: Your kids know him as Walter’s big brother (the man, not the muppet) from The Muppets or maybe as the voice of Vector from Despicable Me. You know him as Marshall on How I Met Your Mother, and lots of other stuff.

About the Book: Everyone thinks their new stepmom is a witch. Charlie’s really might be. Sleeping has gotten really scary since he had to move into her creepy purple mansion -- it seems like his nightmares just might be coming true. You can really feel Segel’s tone in the telling -- Nightmares is funny and spooky without being too scary, and teaches a great message about facing your fears.

Ages: 8 & up, though for younger kids it’s a fun (daytime, not bedtime) read aloud
