“The Slightly Annoying Elephant” by David Walliams

About the Author: Ok, unless you’re British, or a secret anglophile, you might not have heard of David Walliams. He’s an actor and writer famous on the other side of the pond for the sketch show Little Britain. He’s also a bestselling children’s author.

About the Book: If you’re new to the wild world of Walliams (think a quirky blend of Roald Dahl, Benny Hill and Monty Python), start with his only picture book, The Slightly Annoying Elephant, about a boy that tries to be accommodating when an elephant turns up at his door. This is the most gentle of his books, and bigger kids can graduate to the wickedly funny Demon Dentist and Gangsta Granny, but not until they’re at least 7 or 8.

Ages: 3 & up
