Prediction: There will be a whole lotta shakin’ going on this weekend. Chicago kindie rock darling Little Miss Ann takes the stage, and her energetic guitar jams will propel you to your feet. Also, Baby Loves Disco is back in town for one last dance party of the season. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with foot-shuffling fun — and a whole lot more.

Downtown

Little Miss Ann
She’s been compared to Janis Joplin. We agree — she rocks. The Chicago singer-songwriter sets the rom on fire with upbeat rock-folk songs laced with positive messages. The gig is in the Room & Board showroom right off Michigan Avenue, so after the tunes you can check out the new 2013 Kids Collection. Sat., 11:00 am. Free. Event details.

Wicker Park

Mother’s Day at Easel Art Studio
This event is just for dads and kids. Make Mom a present to be remembered — your own original work of art — during open studio time. Snacks and refreshments are provided. Sat., 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Easel Art Studio. $30 per child. All ages. Event details.

Lincoln Park

Baby Loves Disco
The ultimate tot-friendly dance party blazes through Chicago. Do freeze dance, play Simon Says and shake it like you mean it to music that parents can tolerate. This is the last event of the season and it’s an “animal disco party.” Dress up as your favorite animal or just be ready to party like one with dancing, crafts, crackers (animal, of course) and more. Sat., 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm. Lincoln Hall. $15 per person (non-walkers are free). All ages. Event details.

Facets Family Film Series: Mama and Me
Pass the popcorn and settle in for a viewing of nine animated and live-action short films — all related to nurturing and the warmth of family. The endearing flicks come from Denmark, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey and the U.S. We can’t wait for “The Little Crow with the Naked Bottom,” in which a mama bird shows her baby how to help others using creativity and knitted shorts. Sat., 9:30 am. Facets Multi-media. $7 for adults; $5 for children. Ages 4-8. Event details.

Wrigleyville

Race to Wrigley
The ultimate jaunt for long-suffering fans of North Side baseball starts outside Wrigley Field and winds through Lakeview. Strollers are welcome. For a finale akin to a grand slam, you can complete the last stretch of the race by entering the stadium, running through a concourse and sprinting right under the marquee. Sat., 8:00 am. $40 for the fun run; $45 for the timed run. All ages. Event details.

Highland Park

Bee-tastic Mother’s Day
In honor of your busy-bee parenting routine, celebrate Mom’s Day at a north suburban nature center, where you can get a safe, up-close look at bee hives. Learn about the Queen and her daughters, and dress in a protective suit to peer closer. Everyone leaves with a honey stick. Sun., 11:00 am-12:30 pm. Heller Nature Center. $8. Ages 6 and up. Event details.
