Look who popped out of the toy chest. Jesse, Woody and Buzz are putting on their skates for Disney on Ice, and that’s not the only exciting thing happening this weekend. There’s a free ice cream social and the World Music Festival downtown, the opening of Goldfish Swim School in Naperville and more. Here’s the scoop.

Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic
Mickey, Minnie and more take to the rink in a show choreographed in part by Emmy Award winner Sarah Kawahara (she choreographed the skating segment for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics). Some 60 Disney characters from the past decade, including the “Small World” dolls and Woody and Buzz, have music, songs and cool costumes in store. Wed.-Sun., showtimes vary. United Center. $13-$70. “Aladdin” Theater Adventure
This magic carpet ride promises big smiles. In the theater show for young audiences, you’ll journey with Aladdin as goes in search of his magic lamp and the genie that lives inside. 15th Annual World Music Festival Chicago
Introduce your future globe trotter to music from performers that have come here from Latin America, Africa and beyond. They’re playing at venues across the city. Our pick is RagaMala, an all-night celebration of Indian music held Friday through Saturday morning at Chicago Cultural Center; pillows and yoga mats are welcome if your little one gets tuckered out. Thurs.-Sept. 22; showtimes vary. Strollers First 5K and Festival
Strollers aren’t just welcome at this race — they lead it. The family-focused event organized by Neighborhood Parents Network (NPN) also has a kids’ dash and a festival with a bouncy house and activities. Sun., 8 a.m.-noon. $25 for adults running race bib; $20 for adults walking race bib; $10 for kids 5K race bib (15 years of age and younger); $5 for kids dash. Free Ice Cream Social

Goldfish Swim School Grand Opening Party
Dive into the newest location of the talked-about swim school. For its big opening, there is free family swim in the tropical-themed pool, face painting, balloon twisting, crafts, pizza and cake, and more. Susanna Farms Fall Festival
Have a home-spun adventure when the northwest suburban family farm opens to the public. Ramble through a five-acre corn maze or children’s mini maze, take a hayride across the fields, and charge through the kid-friendly obstacle course. There are also arts and crafts projects, horseback rides, farm animals, a frog pond, a bean bag toss and tons of picturesque photo opps. Sat.-Oct. 31. $8/person; children 3 and under free.
