Josephine Del Rio of Abuella Creations

Where’s a good cape when you need one? Josephine of Abuela Creations has you covered. She was inspired to start her company after the births of her grandchildren coincided with her retirement. Some of her specialty items include handmade masks, capes, birthday crowns and mermaid tails. She also makes fantastic nursing aprons and reusable napkins. This creative resident of the southwest side of Chicago makes sure that everything is made with comfy breathable fabrics that are easy to wash and reuse. You can find her wide variety of creations at Sod Room in the South Loop (her daughter is the playspace's owner, Cynthia Valenciana), craft fairs and consignment stores. Make sure to spread the word about this amazing grandma who is committed to bringing you items that are "beautiful but also highly functional and well made.”
