No doubt grownups need to spend time in a kid-free zone every once in a while, and date nights were invented for just that reason. But sometimes it’s fun to skip the sitter and have the littles crash the party. Click through for family date night ideas that are fun for the whole gang, from crashing at a museum for the night to catching dinner and a show. Adult conversation is a snooze fest anyway, right?
Family Swim: Chicago Park District Pools
Kick around in the water and, when the time comes, forget that winter exists at one of Chicago's indoor public pools. Many of the Park District’s options offer family swim times on select weekdays after 6 p.m. and on weekends. We recommend the ones at Kosciuszko Park (2732 N. Avers Ave.) and McGuane Park (2901 S. Poplar Ave.). Whether you have a guppy that's just getting used to the water or a regular lil' shark, these are intended to be safe and welcoming places to enjoy the water as a family.
Open family swims are free. For a complete list of Chicago Park District indoor pools and their swim schedules, click here.
