For Walking Trails: Primrose Farm

This restored 1930s working farm, located 45 minutes southwest of Chicago, makes a point to educate visitors about the impacts of technology and social change on farm families. Many of the farm’s original buildings have been restored, including the barn, farmhouse, milk house, pump house, hog house, chicken coop and sheep shed. You’ll also find a fruit orchard with pear, apple and cherry trees, daily 8:30 a.m. cow milking demonstrations, and four educational farm discovery trails offering pedestrian pathways ranging in distance from .8 miles to 2.2 miles.

Seasonal drop-in programs are offered for varying fees on Wednesdays and Saturdays. These programs give the opportunity to gather eggs straight from the coop, get hands-on cow milking experience, learn to care for and help feed the livestock or take a tour of the farm to see the horses, cows, chickens, hogs and sheep.
