Chicago is ready to flip the switch. You’ll hear oohs and aahs when streets, shopping centers and parks light up for the holidays — and you can be there when it happens. If you can’t make the kick-off ceremonies, don’t worry: these hotspots will stay brilliantly lit through the end of December. Click through our guide to the best and brightest.

Menorah Lightings at Westfield Old Orchard

Trees aren't the only things being illuminated. The shopping village of Westfield Old Orchard hosts a glowing menorah beginning Nov. 20 and will host activities at the Unilock Patio area to commemorate Hanukkah. On Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 from 10:30 a.m.-noon, go for Hands on Hanukkah, an interactive program for families with young children that includes photos with Danny the Dreidel, games, food samples, and a free raffle to win Mensch on a Bench. Catch the Dreidel House activities presented by Lubavitch Chabad of Skokie on Dec. 13 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., including crafts for children, complimentary doughnuts and hot chocolate and festive music.
