Chicago is ready to flip the switch. You’ll hear oohs and aahs when streets, shopping centers and parks light up for the holidays — and you can be there when it happens. If you can’t make the kick-off ceremonies, don’t worry: these hotspots will stay brilliantly lit through the end of December. Click through our guide to the best and brightest.

The Shops at Roosevelt Collection Tree Lighting

The Shops at Roosevelt Collection are extending the celebration throughout the holiday season, starting with a visit from Santa on Black Friday along with food trucks on the plaza. A Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be hosted by Alderman Daniel Solis, complete with Santa, The British School of Chicago Choir and hot cocoa. A Menorah Lighting Ceremony will include live music and jelly doughnuts. Santa will visit The Shops Dec. 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20.
