No doubt about it, being a kid is heaps of work. After all the fort building, slime making and wall climbing, they’ll probably need to take a much-needed chill break. Good news: Chicago has several spas that not only welcome kids but have treatments designed just for them. Whether hosting a kids birthday party or introducing your little one to manicures, go ahead and get in on the action and make an appointment for yourself. You deserve it!

Mix spa services, runway training and glamour shots at this little-known photo studio. It doesn’t normally offer spa services, but if you book a photo party for eight guests (ages 4 & up), everyone is treated to up-dos and make-up. Rock stars and princesses can also get manicures, etiquette lessons and design-your-own feather fans (a sassy prop if we ever saw one). Top things off with a fashion runway show, complete with fancy gowns and accessories. As a bonus, every guest leaves with a professional group photo.

French export Mireille Hamon’s superb makeup artistry has been beautifying Chicagoans for over 20 years, including a wide range of celebrities while at the Oprah Winfrey Show from 1991 to 2011. At her Gold Coast studio, Hamon specializes in facials, waxing, eyebrow shaping/tinting/3D microblading, eyelash tinting/lifting/extensions, plus makeup application & lessons, as well as full-body massages. While teens are free to book any of the specialized services, Hamon’s signature teen facial promises to cleanse, scrub, steam, and when necessary extract whiteheads and blackheads, followed by a soothing masque. A home care regimen is discussed, too, making the experience a valuable lesson in self-care for the beloved tween/teen in your life.
