Chicago is a music city — especially for families. Nearly every weekend you can find a kindie rock concert everywhere from libraries to play spaces to museums. Things really come alive during the holidays. Chicago kindie-folk starlet Little Miss Ann put together this photo album, which is full of picks for the season’s best shows and gives you an inside look at the local musicians who will rock them. Flip through the album and jam out.

Jeanie B! and The Jelly Beans Band

Why they rock:
Jeanie B!’s soulful, melodic voice is reminiscent of Carol King’s “Tapestry.” Her songs are poppy and sing-able, like a modern-day musical. The sound is Americana roots music — a mixture of bluegrass, country, blues and enough rock 'n' roll to keep everyone dancing! Jeanie B!'s live shows are bona fide dance parties, with young and old alike up on their feet and singing.

Jeanie's favorite holiday memory:
Says Jeanie, "Every year since I was a little girl and still to this day, my Dad has organized a poinsettia drop for underprivileged people in the Grand Rapids Michigan area where I grew up. It started with just my immediate family (me, my four siblings and parents) and today includes my extended family of 17 grandchildren and multiple spouses and significant others totaling over 35 people! Last year we distributed 550 plants along with a bag of cookies to people in need. I have had the great blessing of sharing this with my kids now and for all these decades with my wonderful father who is turning 86 in January. That is the true holiday in my family."

Their holiday gig:
The Tinley Park Holiday Market is the place to be on Saturday, December 7. Jeanie B! plays a show at 12:15 a.m. at the Oak Park Avenue train station parking lot. Throughout the weekend, the village comes alive with free holiday activities for the whole family, including a tree lighting ceremony, the Tinley Toyland Parade, the Parade of Lights, photos with Santa, carriage rides and the popular Holiday Market where Jeanie B! will be performing. See it at 173 Oak Park Ave. in Tinley Park.
