Dads have the magic touch. They turn roughhousing into an art form, have an unending arsenal of silly faces and can make tears dry with a single smooch. Chicago is full of cool dads and we want you to meet a few. Get to know a trend-setting store owner, longtime improv actor, restaurant and bar tastemaker, baby-business entrepreneur and other fellows that do their families — and Chicago — proud.

Jeff Brecker

Don't let his photo give you the wrong idea: This East Lakeview dad is anything but a mean one. The current Vice President, Managing Director of ad agency R/GA Chicago has done really nice (and award-winning work). In his past role at Digital Kitchen he worked on accounts like The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Jeff recently started putting together a team of friends and former co-workers to brainstorm ways for the public to combat texting and driving. (Notably, when he worked at Leo Burnett, he helped develop the "Save 11" safe driving social media campaign for Allstate.) He and his wife, Robyn, have a daughter, Bella (5), and look for family activities that are educational, fun and right in the heart of their neighborhood. You can catch them at local shops like Threadless and Graham Crackers Comics, and hanging out at Bow Truss coffee shop. "There's so much that rocks about being a dad," Jeff says. "It's amazing to see the wonder and excitement in her eyes when she learns to do something new."
