The Palmer House created the first brownie in 1893 in response to Bertha Palmer’s request for a portable dessert that ladies could enjoy in boxed lunches at Chicago’s World Fair. To celebrate National Brownie Day, members of the Palmer House staff will be located around the hotel distributing brownie bites and vouchers for a discount at Lockwood Restaurant & Bar. One lucky recipient will randomly receive a gift certificate for dinner for two at the award-winning Lockwood Restaurant & Bar.
