Who needs Superman and Batman when you have firefighters to serve as real life superheroes? Not us! Did you know there’s a play space that provides hands-on, imaginative fun that educates kids on the action a fireman sees everyday — and even gives them the opportunity to meet a few of these men and women who keep our city safe? Read on to hear how FireZone is bringing red-hot fun to the western ‘burbs.
What is it exactly?
FireZone is a firefighter-loving kid’s dream. Imagine actual fireman showing off fire engines, explaining educational displays and overseeing games for the littles. Along with drop-in play opportunities, FireZone hosts birthday parties, runs school field trips, caters to adults with corporate training days and, wait for it . . . rents fire trucks for picnics, parades and festivals.
What will you find in the playspace?
You’ll find a safe, clean, fun and engaging environment to play and explore. The supervised nature of the activities ensures safety, while challenging kids to think, interact and just have loads of fun. Within the play space, kids will explore a fire truck, try on firefighting gear, slide down a fire pole, play in a dispatch center, rescue hero house and fire station playhouse, and more!
Schedule and cost for open play
There is no set schedule for drop-in activities, so be sure to check their online calendar before visiting. The space is $10 for kids ages 1-9 years, free for one adult with each paying child and free for children under the age of 1. You can also purchase a FireZone pass, which gives one child unlimited admission, a gift and access to special events for $45. An annual family pass is $110 and gives three kids unlimited admission, $25 off any party, access to special events and a 10% discount on retail.
FireZone offers a variety of all-inclusive packages, which is why they refer to it as the 3 C’s of a party. You bring your child, camera and credit card/cash and they handle the rest. The basic party package starts at $295, which covers a 90-minute event in the Firehouse Party Room that includes a structured adventure program led by a firefighter and staff, flame cupcakes and juice, party supplies, favors, e-invitations and thank you postcards for 14 kids and 26 adults. There are loads of add-ons for both kids and adults ranging from upgrading to a 3D fire truck cake to adding varying grub options for adult attendees.
Yes, but, what about those fire truck rentals?
Created in 2003 by real fire fighters, Chicago Fire Truck Rentals is the largest fire truck rental service in North America providing trucks for all occasions. Their mission is to create a fun, safe, educational and memorable experience for every customer and guest.
Weee-oooo, Weee-oooo . . . All you need is the cake! A kids fire truck birthday party starts at $425 for the first 20 guests and $5 for each additional (plus a mileage and diesel charge). The one-hour package includes a hands-on experience with firefighting and fire trucks, party favors and structured activities, including a fire gear demo, a challenge course and fire hose relay.
