"We are a nature-loving family, so our favorite summer activity is also one we do at other times of the year. We love to discover different nature trails and nature centers. We explored River Trail Nature Center a few weeks ago and have planned a second trip for mid-summer to see how the trail and the animals differ by season. In the city, we make frequent stops at Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary and the North Park Village Nature Center. Emily Oaks Nature Center is perfect for our 3-½-year-old because it’s not too big and has a small playground if he still has energy after walking the trail. For some reason (we think a Curious George story), our son is obsessed with campfires, so we are planning to visit Evanston Ecology Center this summer where they have planned a series of campfire sing-a-longs (with s’mores, of course) and nature lessons. After a seemingly never-ending winter, we just can’t wait to spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors!"
