As San Diego sails into March, it’s time to start enjoying spring. This weekend, keep the Dr. Seuss birthday celebration going with a fun event for young kids who want to explore reading, crafts and more.

Read and Romp Family Event 
The Dr. Seuss birthday celebrations continue with the Read and Romp Family Event (pictured). Book-themed crafts and snacks will delight, and Hullabaloo will perform! Discover Puff the Magic Dragon, Become a Wild Thing, decorate for a snowy day, make a mouse cookie and more! Admission includes breakfast and gift bags, in addition to the fun. Sat., 9:00 am. Ocean Beach Kiwanis Kite Festival
As the oldest kids’ kite festival in the U.S., this fun event presents a great opportunity for your kiddos to learn how to make a kite. Sure, they can fly one… but do they know how to craft one? Free Family Art Day: Ship Building 
Calling all little sailors! The Oceanside Museum of Art, currently showing John Taylor’s nautical sculptures, is offering your family the opportunity to be inspired by the latest exhibit. Create, decorate, name and float your very own ship. Not just your average ships, your kids will craft them from reclaimed materials such as egg cartons, wood scraps and soda bottles. Circus Vargas
It’s musical, it’s memorable, it’s Circus Vargas 2012! If you live in the El Cajon area, don’t miss the local performance of Circus Vargas.
