Sir Richard Branson can step aside, because sending your mini-Galileo to the Milky Way has never been easier. From world-renowned institutions to intimate space settings, budding stargazers can reach the outer limits of the galaxy without leaving Planet Earth. Flip through the gallery below for nine spots worthy of your cosmos-crazed kiddo.

Saunders Planetarium – Tampa Bay, Fl

The star-studded fun is twofold at Saunders Planetarium, at the Museum of Space and Science, in Tampa Bay, Florida. Featuring the GOTO Space Simulator Chronos projection system—a state-of-the-art star projector capable of re-creating the night sky from any time in the past, present and future in less than 20 seconds—the planetarium is wow-worthy in its own right. However, it’s a visit to Mission Moonbase, where, in the year 2070, colonies have taken residence on the moon and NASA needs help with everything ranging from Robotics to Habitation, that’ll keep tiny stargazers looking up for more out-of-this-world excitement.

Insider Tip: The MOSI is also home to Kids in Charge!, the largest science center for wee ones in the nation.
