Old Town might not sound like the hip, cool place to bring a wild and curious bunch of kids. But, it’s just that…and more! From kid-friendly farmer’s markets to consignment shops galore, there are so many hot spots in this Alexandria, Virginia enclave that you’ll need to make multiple trips just to soak it all in. Here’s where to get started.

Jones Point Park

Sailing buffs will get a charge out of seeing the oldest remaining riverine lighthouse in Virginia at Jones Point Park. Little ones can’t go inside, but they can play outside, zoom down the park’s slides, and check out the canoes and kayaks that river enthusiasts launch from the Potomac’s edge. Fledgling fishermen can try their hand at casting for bass, catfish or American eels on the piers, and those who are never without a basketball can even play a game of hoops.
