Old Town might not sound like the hip, cool place to bring a wild and curious bunch of kids. But, it’s just that…and more! From kid-friendly farmer’s markets to consignment shops galore, there are so many hot spots in this Alexandria, Virginia enclave that you’ll need to make multiple trips just to soak it all in. Here’s where to get started.

Hooray for Books!

Bookworms will go apples and bananas at Hooray for Books! It’s independently owned, and the staff knows their stuff. You name it, they have it, or can get it. If you’re visiting with big kids on Wednesday, stay for storytime from 5 pm-6 pm. Toddlers get their own storytime on Fridays and Saturdays at 10:30 am. Looking for a super cool gift? The store will send your little reader a new book each month of the year. Like a club of the month, but just for kids!
