This winter the D.C. area has seen its fair share of surprise snow flurries (that melt the next day…womp-womp). But don’t let the threat of a slushy sidewalk  keep you cooped up. This weekend is jammed with a slew of events for the whole family. To get in on some of our faves—a dreamy, aquatic-themed play, a wrapping paper workshop, and a bacon-y brunch with Santa—just bundle up and head out. Pack the snow boots, just in case.

Fly with Jellyfish in a Dreamy Play
Back by popular demand, Aquarium at Imagination Stage features gentle music, beautiful puppets, and props that mesmerize the littlest of theater goers. In the play, friends Jack and Calypso lead kids to a magical, interactive world where giant jellyfish fly through the air, sheep graze in the grass, and lemons become the sun in a “let’s pretend” sky. This is the stuff dreams are made of! Fri.-Sun. Bethesda. $10-$12. 1-5. Event details.

Free Family Night at the National Children’s Museum
Gather your crew and head to the museum where you’ll all get in gratis during this month’s free family night. Kiddos can take a Maestro’s Music Class, bust a groove in Movers and Groovers or check out a performance of Princess Sunny’s Birthday. Oh, and then there’s the entire museum, which you and your little one can explore inch by inch. Fri., 5 pm-8 pm. National Harbor. Free. All. Event details.

DIY Wrapping Paper Workshop for Kids
When brown paper bags and old newspapers just don’t cut it, swing by this wrapping paper 101 session. Kids can bring a present that needs wrapping and learn how to make their own holiday paper, cards and gift tags using sponges, stamps and natural materials. The finished product will almost be too cool to unwrap! Sun. Bethesda. $5. 6-10. Event details.

You’ll meet back up revived, refreshed and ready to tackle whatever’s next. Sat. Alexandria. $35/child; $20/additional child. 4 and up. Event details.

Get Jiggy at My Gym Dance Party
