Silver Spring

Wings of Fancy Live Butterflies 
This seasonal display features hundreds of live butterflies from all over the world. Families, students, nature lovers, and everyone in between can get an up close experience of these brilliant butterflies from North America, Costa Rica, Africa and Asia as they soar among colorful flowers. Maryland Day 
Get all nostalgic about your college days by swinging by the University of Maryland’s one-day open house, featuring family-friendly and interactive events. Maryland Day is packed with exciting events and exhibits in six “learning neighborhoods” spread across campus. To the Duck Races 
In addition to rubber duck races (you have to see it to believe it!), this event will include an interactive Kids’ Zone, food, music, live entertainment, games and exhibits from local businesses and community organizations. Red Shoe 5K Run/Walk 
Participate in the Red Shoe 5K Run & Walk. to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Red Shoe 5K is for racers, leisure walkers and recreational runners.  This family- friendly Red Shoe 5K has a Special Kids Fun Run. There will be lots of fun activities for kids of all ages. Raptor Festival 
You see them in the sky! You seem them in the trees! Now see Maryland’s premier birds of prey up close at Meadowside Nature Center’s Raptor Festival. Emperor’s Nightingale
The sweet song of a Nightingale saves an Empire. This brand new adaptation set in eighteenth century China, brings to light the younger days of Emperor Qianlong, who would become one of the greatest rulers of the Middle Kingdom.
