This weekend is really singing to us. A kiddie New Orleans-style jazz band is bringing their talents to the D.C. area. Kite flyers will be showing off their intricate skills on the National Mall. And there will be bunnies—big and small—hopping all around the city. Lucky for you, you don’t have to be able to carry a tune to join the fun.



Brunch it Up with Jazzy Ash 
Brunch with Junior Jams and the only New Orleans style jazz performer for kids, Jazzy Ash, who is on tour with her five piece band from Southern California. Look Up at the Blossom Kite Festival
The National Mall will be awash with kite fliers showing off their stunt skills during this annual event and competition. Sure, there will be experts from across the country doing fancy moves in the Rokkaku Battle and Hot Tricks Showdown, but there are also youth competitions that little ones can get in on at the Family Field. Swing by the activity tents to make a kite, decorate a wind sock, or score a free lesson from the Kite Doctor. Sat., 10 am-4:30 pm. National Mall. Free. All ages. Event Details.


Old McDonald had an…Easter Bunny
From hayrides and farm animals, to roasted marshmallows and Easter egg hunts—Ticonderoga Farms knows how to ring in spring. National Cherry Blossom Festival Family Program: Zen Gardens
Don’t think you can get zen while surrounded by your entire family (and a bunch of other families)? Think again! Zen gardens like the one at Ryōan-ji represent nature in the abstract and provide space for contemplation. Swing by the National Building Museum where you’ll learn the history of Japan’s famous Zen rock gardens, then design and build your own. Note: Pre-registration is required. Sat., 1 pm and 3 pm. Garden-Style Easter Egg Hunt
The gardens at the Historic Evermay Estate will be open for an afternoon of festive spring fun, including crafts, a visit from some Easter friends (including the kind that hop around), and of course, an expansive egg hunt.
