There is no shortage of pick-your-own farms in the DC area, but one of our favorites is the sunflower fields that bloom in summer months. If your littles wither under peak sun, this farm also offers sunset sessions. But that’s not all! We’re checking off all the summer bucket list musts this weekend, like frying up our own festival foods and tie-dying all the things. Read on for more ways to make this most of this weekend.

Pick a Bouquet 
This pick-your-own farm is currently features over 30 different sunflower varieties. You can also get lost in a sunflower maze. Or take advantage of cooler temps by picking during their Sunset sessions. Admission includes access to a huge Jump Pad, bubble stations, chalkboard message signs for photos, kids clubhouse play area, short cinema theater and a shaded picnic area. Primary colors are bright and cheerful; they help young children distinguish shapes, and they have a positive effect on the moods of kids of all ages. Bach Yard Playdates
Viewers can join Museum herpetologists Lauren Vonnahme and Arianna Kuhn as they share exciting facts about the Museum’s herpetology collections, talk about their scientific research, and answer questions live. Children’s Etiquette Online Intro Course
Free manners lessons hosted by the founder of The Swann School of Protocol Elaine Swann. In this course your child will learn the 3 Core Values. They will identify when to use them at home, at school, and when out and about. The link to the video will be sent in your registration confirmation. This is a pre-recorded class. Run Like a Viking
The Nordic Museum’s Run Like A Viking race is going virtual. Participants can choose between a 5K, 10K or half-marathon distance challenge. You choose the day of your race (Jul. 25-Aug. 31). Log your miles as you run outside, walk on a treadmill, bike, kayak, skateboard—whatever way you move can be how you race. Bonus points if you do it while dressed like a Viking! All registered entrants will receive a custom Run Like a Viking T-shirt along with other goodies. Sun. Event details.
