Craving a date night with your sweetie, but need a kid-care option that won’t break the bank? Pop by one of the play places around the D.C. area now offering “Kids Nights” that give your brood the opportunity to have a crazy-fun—but supervised—time, while you get a few hours out and about (without having to request a booster seat). Here are some of the coolest drop-offs around town.


Adventure Theatre MTC’s Date Night
If you’ve got a little drama queen or king on your hands, perhaps a great date night out for you will be a super fun drama night in for them at Adventure Theatre MTC’s Date Nights, offered about once a month at the theater’s two locations. Adventure Theatre, which has provided a main stage for kids in the D.C. area since the 1950s, hosts a date night program for kids in grades K-5. Your little one will enjoy a Manny and Olga’s pizza dinner, fun drama games, a movie and an all-around good time.

My Gym’s Parents Night Out
For three to nine year olds, Date Night events are offered twice a month at most of the 13 My Gym locations around the Greater Washington area. During their day job, My Gyms give kids the opportunity to run, bounce, play and learn new skills (think: balancing, tiptoe-ing, and hanging). The My Gym “Date Night” babysitting drop-off events include three hours of fun for kids (ages three to nine), featuring a pizza dinner and a combination of supervised sports, games and art activities.

Upcoming date nights: Every first and third Friday of the month (6 pm-9 pm)

Parents’ Survival Night at Little Gym
Held at the Little Gym in Fairfax, this drop-off kid watch lets you relax and have some free time, while your three to 12 year-old enjoys a safe and fun, music-filled, soft-padded gym. The best part about this gym spot is the instructors who keep a watchful eye on each and every kid, while staying goofy, fun, and relatable to the mini-set.

Kids’ Night Out at Silver Stars Gymnastics
Silver Stars encourages all children to have access to and fun with gymnastics, no matter their skill level. The club has 25 gyms throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. At Kids’ Night Out, little tumblers ages 3.5 (potty trained) through 12 have the chance to practice cartwheels, monkey bars, and rope climbing. There will also be a kid0friendly flick shown and all-night bouncing to their hearts content on nine different trampolines.

PB & Jack Date Nights
In 2010, PB & Jack was founded by a mom of three who had the idea to create a place where both kids and parents can have fun, hang out, and attend activities and classes. There is a supervised play area, parents’ coffee lounge with WiFi and kid- and adult-friendly food and drink, and classes for both kids 0-5 and adults. For kid’s night out, a tot-friendly, nut-free dinner is included.
