2017 has certainly been a trying year for many, but of course Disney finds a way to give it as much of a happy ending as it can. In December, Disney Parks launched the #ShareYourEars campaign across social media, it pledged to donate $5 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for every photo posted to social media with the #ShareYourEars hashtag through Christmas. The response was overwhelming: despite initially pledging to donate up to $1 million, Disney’s #ShareYourEars campaign raised $2 million for Make-A-Wish!

According to the Disney Parks blog, nearly 9,000 Disney-related wishes are granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation every year. When our family was at Walt Disney World a few weeks ago, I saw a handful of Make-A-Wish families throughout the parks. Speaking of our vacation, I couldn’t help but add my own contribution to the #ShareYourEars campaign—in a pair of coveted rose gold Minnie ears, no less.

Disney’s partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation has spanned more than 35 years and in 2015, their partnership helped grant its 100,000th wish. With a $2 million donation to Make-A-Wish for the second year in a row, the success of the #ShareYourEars campaign is certainly one awesome way to round out this otherwise fraught year—and a great reminder for everyone to contribute to their favorite charity for end-of-year giving. Let’s  pay it forward, am I right?
