- Things to Do
Head to the Pacific Bonsai Museum on Mother’s Day Weekend for the annual Bonsai Fest! May is ‘peak-bloom’ time for azaleas and other flowering bonsai. See dozens of stellar bonsai, watch demonstrations of how bonsai are made, and view special exhibits that illustrate bonsai design principles that will give you a deeper appreciation of bonsai as stunning works of living art.
Be sure to vote for Best Bonsai in the Puget Sound Bonsai Association’s Spring Show. Plus, enjoy pop-up shopping for books and gifts for nature and plant lovers. DYI KusaMama Kits (a play on ‘Kusamono’--small, informal, potted compositions displayed alone or as an accent planting in bonsai presentations) will be on sale all weekend and plant experts will demonstrate how to make these beautiful gifts. Festive food and beverages will also be available and kids can make a card for mom at the art station.
