Avid Kindle book reader? If so, you may be in luck. Those who purchased a Kindle book from Hachette, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Penguin, or Macmillan between 4/1/10 and 5/21/12, should have some free Amazon credit sitting in their account right now (#treatyoself). This settlement comes after a 2012 case where the Department of Justice accused Apple and five major publishers of conspiring to raise the price of ebooks.

If you were eligible for credit, a notification like the one below may have been emailed to you, though some people received a credit without an email. You can also log into your Amazon account now to check for any updates. The credit amounts vary.
