Mercerdale Park is a great destination for those days when you’ve got the whole crew (bigger and little kiddos) to entertain. Located in the heart of Mercer Island, the park has it all: a paved path—perfect for strollers or tricycles—loops around an expanse of open space with an adjacent picnic area. The children’s play area has a train theme with swings and a climbing structure. Nearby, a skate park is great for skate boarding or scootering. (On Sundays in the summer, the park is the site of the Mercer Island Farmer’s Market and also home to various music festivals.) Since downtown Mercer Island is only a few blocks away, grabbing a bite to eat is easy, whether it’s lunch at Noah’s Bagels, a coffee at Tully’s or ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Another fun-and-educational diversion is doing a donation drop of clothing, toys or baby equipment at the Mercer Island Thrift Store, which helps support Mercer Island Youth and Family services and shares a parking lot with the park. Do good, purge your house of some excess, then run it off at the park!
