Chip and Joanna Gaines are easily one of reality TV’s most adorable couples. The pair make an incredible team, both in home renovating, and as the happily married parents of four kids. And Chip Gaines recently decided to share with fans the key to their successful partnership.

Fixer Upper star Chip Gaines recently showed off his writing skills with an essay in Country Living where he gave readers some insight into the secrets of being happily married. As Chip explains right out of the gate, the secret can be summed up with just a single word: trust. “I trust her when it comes to our kids, our business, our show, our home, our projects. All of it. Joanna has great instincts, great ideas and an eye that can’t be beat. She is truly fascinating to me in every area of our life together, and I could rattle off at least ninety things that she’s the best at and that I’ve learned from her, but honestly trust, above all else, is the key. She has my back. And I have hers—in all things,” he writes. He acknowledges that, just like in their business, they each bring different strengths to the table that together make them an unstoppable team.

Joanna isn’t the only big influence on his life. Their kids have also taught him a thing or two. “I’ve learned so many things from each of my kids, I couldn’t list them all, but it never gets old learning a little bit more each day about their unique personalities.”

If you can’t get enough of this cute couple, Chip is releasing a book this fall titled Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff that promises to reveal even more on what he’s learned from his wonderful wife and kids, among other special people in his life.
