Sandy Spring Friends School (SSFS), founded in 1961, is a progressive, coed, college preparatory Quaker school serving students from Preschool (age 3) through 12th Grade, with optional 5- and 7-day boarding programs in the Upper School.  Situated on 144 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, MD, SSFS provides a safe, supportive environment—in a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive community—for young people to discover their passions and become actively engaged in their education.

Small class sizes and a low teacher-to-student ratio give students the opportunity to experience a rigorous,  hands-on curriculum. Our teachers have the opportunity to build relationships with students, challenge them, and provide a space for all voices to be heard, creating an environment where teachers lead and learn alongside their students. Our school’s culture—rooted in the idea that collaboration engenders achievement—can be traced to our Quaker heritage and abiding belief in the Quaker values of simplicity, equality, honesty, stewardship of the environment, and peaceful resolution of conflict.  By fostering independence while cultivating self-confidence, cultural identity, and a sense of belonging, our students become responsible, successful citizens of the world.

A leader in early childhood education, Concord Hill School (CHS) offers children age 3 through grade 3 a distinctive education. CHS knows that the early years are the most important and specializes in understanding what a child needs during this critical time. The faculty is focused on meeting the individual academic and social-emotional needs of students through hands-on, experiential learning that emphasizes play. The School boasts a rich program that includes the arts, leadership, Spanish, STEM, and more. Faculty approach teaching through an anti-bias lens and the School’s DEI Committee supports such efforts through a variety of initiatives. During these first eight years, your child will develop as a person and as a student. We follow students throughout their CHS career so that by the time they enter third grade, we are able to launch them academically by pairing them with a school that matches their needs and personality.

CHS combines a strong academic program with a small and caring community. We inspire a love of learning and nurture relationships and memories that will last a lifetime.
