This fall the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (BKCM) offers a trove of LIVE, engaging, creative and inspiring classes, ensembles, lectures: from the baby-bopping Sing & Play class, to the hands-on Intro to DJ class, to enthralling Instrument Adventures classes, to Composition Club and much more.

Private lessons at BKCM are an extraordinary experience and are available for every major instrument including voice. Drawing from a diverse faculty of world-class musicians and educators, we match each student to a teacher whose approach and experience best fits their learning style.

Enjoy everything fall as we celebrate the last harvest of the season… pumpkins!

Daily, guests can take a wagon ride out to pick the perfect pumpkin, cheer on the pigs in the pig races (Tuesday-Friday at 12:30pm), get lost in our corn maze, and play all day in our five acre play area, with attractions like TWO jumping pillows, swings, slides, mazes, Farm Ninja Warrior Course, Putt Putt, barnyard animals, and more!

Located just an hour’s drive northwest of Chicago, Richardson Adventure Farm has become an annual destination for family fun, with a new 28-acre maze every year, plus more than 30 activities, including wagon rides, pig races, a vintage carousel and a “park train” that runs on real tracks. Most of the activities are included in the admission fee with a few (such as the zip line and “Orb” rides) cost extra. Private picnic sites with campfires and firewood are available by reservation, and there’s free parking.

This year Richardson’s added a heated tent near the pig races and train depot, serving wine, beer and hot chocolate with schnapps, plus live music on most weekend afternoons.

Admission in September: $17 for ages 13 and up, and $14 for ages 4-12;
October/November weekend prices are $19 for ages 13 and up and $16 for ages 3-12.

Fall Family Festival: Time Travel
Sunday, October 20, 2019, 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.

The Norton Simon Museum’s creativity-fueled Fall Family Festival returns—taking families on a journey around the world and through time with pop-up art-making workshops in the galleries and garden. Join a time-travel workshop with educators from the creative writing organization 826LA, create your own time travel luggage and journal, design your own time machine, write postcards from the 18th century, create 17th-century inspired hats and explore 19th-century Paris. Listen to the sounds of ancient Indian instruments, and enjoy story time in 20th-century Europe—there’s so much to explore and experience at the Family Festival.

Fall Family Festival is free for children 18 and younger. Adults pay general admission.

The La Jolla Open Aire Farmer’s Market, located on the campus of La Jolla Elementary School, is a vibrant community event and gathering place each Sunday from 9-1, hosting more than 140 vendors each week. From farm fresh produce and an international gourmet food court, to talented local artisans, our market has something for everyone! Bring the family and enjoy breakfast or lunch on the lawn or in our covered seating arbor while listening to live music.
