Avenues: The World School is one school with many campuses that graduates students poised to become future world-wise leaders uniquely equipped to understand and solve global-scale problems.

Language immersion is a key part to setting this foundation. It’s only from ages 2–6 that kids soak up language like a sponge. At Avenues, we don’t teach Chinese or Spanish; we teach in Chinese or Spanish. From nursery–5th grade, students spend 50% of their time learning in English and 50% learning in a second language: one day in English, one day in Chinese or Spanish, and so on.

In the Small World program for 2-year-olds, children are exposed to all three languages, in preparation for formal immersion in nursery.

Chickenshed NYC is the inclusive theatre company for young people of all abilities and backgrounds.  We are the American cousin of London’s Chickenshed Theatre Company, which for 45 years has pioneered inclusive theatre programming.  Our programs are infused with the belief that when everyone is included, everyone flourishes.  We build a strong theatrical community in a fun, nurturing environment.  All programs and events take place at Manhattan’s 14th Street Y.  Our programs include:

Chickenshed Players are our inclusive theatre classes for kids and teens.  Children in Chickenshed Players 1 (ages 5-7) explore the world of theatre without the pressure of performance, while kids and teens in Chickenshed Players 2 (ages 7-10), 3 (ages 10-13) and 4 (ages 13-18) create an inclusive community that produces an end-of-term full musical production.  Chickenshed Players’ no-audition policy means that everyone can play.

Adventures from The Shed are immersive and inclusive performances for preschoolers and their families.  Using puppetry, music, movement, storytelling, sign language, and a bit of theatre magic, our talented Teaching Artists guide families through a 30-minute Saturday morning show.

Chickenshed NYC’s inclusive mission means that everyone can be included, regardless of finances.  We offer payment plans, reduced fees, and fee waivers.

For parents, back-to-school season is more than just shopping for school supplies and new clothes. It’s about setting your child up for success in the upcoming school year. Many things can impact your child’s academic performance—from the foods they eat to the friends that they make. Did you also know the air they breathe can affect their success in school? Poor air quality may cause health problems like fatigue, headaches, allergic reactions, and other types of irritation that can detract from your kiddo’s ability to focus on learning.

The good news is that improving the quality of the air that your child breathes is not as out of reach as you may think. Molekule air purifiers don’t just collect indoor air pollutants, they destroy them. In fact, Molekule’s Air Mini and Air Mini+ purifiers are even FDA-cleared for medical use to destroy viruses and bacteria. While you can’t control the indoor air quality in your kids’ schools,Molekule air purifiers can help improve the air they breathe at home while they make their way to the head of the class.
